Welcome, strangers.
Did you stumble onto my blog somehow? My name is Matt, many people call me Slay. (I didn't come-up with it, so don't blame me.)
I am the artistic director of Available Light.
Looking over these posts, I see that I write about movies, music, and books a lot. And I take lots of pictures in NYC and at midnight movies.
Life must be pretty good, eh?

I don’t watch broadcast or cable TV, but I watched all of The Wire on DVD, and it was one of the most fulfilling interactions I’ve ever had with a piece of film-art.
So, I even I’m looking forward to this.

I can hardly believe I did this. I’m even trying to put them in order. Anyway, if you like this, come back as we slowly count down to my favorite movie of the past ten years. I’ll give you a hint – it’s not a Star Wars movie.

The Auteurs (a pretty great online cinema for snobs that I’d somehow never heard of before) bring us this great list of the decade’s best movie posters. Here are two of my favorites.
New Yorker 2009 Best Lists

The New Yorker is more than flush with great critical writing. Well, this is a list of lists (some are decade-spanning, too) from those wonderful writers.
I’m trying to tell you it’s a dream come true. Get over there. Click around. Get lost for a few hours.
In fact, to encourage you, here’s my list of the [...]

Talk about a movie that didn’t stand the test of time. I fast-forwarded through about 90 minutes of it, stopping occasionally, but I just couldn’t do it. Blech.
